Anne Marie Davidson has been working in the field of early childhood for 21 years and has worked with a wide range of children in early childhood settings. These experiences in various environments and contexts, including home and center-based childcare, preschool, and preschool special education classrooms, support her deep knowledge and understanding of how young children learn.  After earning her master’s of science degree in Special Education at the University at Albany, State University of New York, Anne Marie began her career as a preschool special education teacher.

Throughout her years as a teacher her role varied from being a teacher of a self contained classroom, an integrated preschool classroom teacher using a co-teaching model and as a consultant teacher.  Each role allowed Anne Marie to develop a deeper understanding of the connection between the curriculum, the teacher and the outcomes for children and to enhance her belief that the role of the adults who work with young children is invaluable.  This led to an interest in building the skills and knowledge of teachers and care providers.  More recently Anne Marie has worked in the field of professional development.

Anne Marie has provided professional development and technical assistance to staff and directors on a variety of topics related to early care and education.  Her areas of professional development interest include inclusive practices for young children with disabilities, early childhood curriculum, racial and cultural identity development of young children, and supporting children’s social and emotional development.  She has recently participated in the process of revising Connecticut’s early learning standards which has given her the opportunity to incorporate these areas of interest into one project.
