HOW TO APPLY

Application Procedures

Applicants must have completed a baccalaureate degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university.

The Certificate is open to students who are currently enrolled in a University of Connecticut Graduate program as well as individuals who are not currently enrolled at the University of Connecticut. Application requirements differ based on your enrollment status. Please see application requirements for each group in the Application Requirements (link to) section below.

Application Requirements

Applicants who are currently enrolled in a UConn graduate program

Online application: Select Disability Studies in Public Health as the program name. Current students can obtain an application fee waiver by emailing gradschool@uconn.edu to request a fee waiver number.

  • Brief personal statement (not to exceed 500 words) regarding interest in the certificate (uploaded)
  • Current resume or CV (uploaded)
  • Unofficial transcripts(s) for all undergraduate and graduate coursework (uploaded)
  • Letter of support from major advisor (uploaded)

Applicants who are not currently enrolled in a UConn graduate program

Online application: Select Disability Studies in Public Health as the program name.

  • $75 non-refundable application fee
  • Brief personal statement (not to exceed 500 words) regarding interest in certificate (uploaded)
  • Current resume or CV (uploaded)
  • Unofficial transcript(s) for all undergraduate and graduate coursework (uploaded)
  • One letter of support from an individual who can address the candidate’s potential for success in the Certificate.
  • The GRE is not required
  • Official transcripts of all collegiate work should be mailed in one envelope to the Graduate School:

Application Deadlines

  • July 6th for matriculation in the following Fall semester.
  • November 9th for matriculation in the following Spring semester.
  • March 9th for matriculation in the following Summer or Fall semester.

Admissions Decisions

Applicants will be notified of the decision via the online application system. (An email will be sent through the system requesting that the applicant log in to view the decision).
