Elisa Wilson, BA
Before joining UCONN’s Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, Elisa worked in the non-profit early childhood field for ten years, where she managed several contracts and grants to improve early childhood experiences, promote early intervention, and facilitate multi-agency collaborations to support community and child development goals. Working with urban children in Hartford taught her a great deal about the importance of community empowerment and the impact of early experiences on child development.
In her role as Executive Assistant to Dr. Mary Beth Bruder at UCONN’s Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, Elisa coordinates schedules and events, and serves as a support for several of the center’s personnel development, community support, and technical assistance functions. Her behind-the-scenes role supports the organization’s vision of CT citizens with disabilities having opportunities and supports that allow them to be valued, fully included, independent, productive, and contributing members of society.
Elisa has worked with numerous children with disabilities and is passionate about effective and collaborative early intervention practices to promote outcomes for children with special needs. She has a nephew with Crouzon syndrome and is familiar with many of the challenges that people with disabilities and people with special health care needs face. While her work at the UCEDD is primarily behind-the-scenes, she feels tremendous pride that her work contributes to better person and family outcomes for people with special needs.
