Anindita Banerjee

Anindita Banerjee is a postdoctoral researcher at the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) at UConn Health. She earned her doctoral degree in Educational Psychology, specializing in Special Education and early childhood autism research, at Texas A&M University, USA. Her research focuses on culturally responsive parent coaching, early intervention for autistic children, and naturalistic developmental behavioral interventions (NDBIs). With a background in Sociology and years of experience as a Special Education teacher in kindergarten and elementary classrooms (India) and as a parent coach in the United States, she brings a global and cross-cultural perspective to family-centered implementation science and professional practices. Her work centers on supporting culturally and linguistically diverse families of children with developmental disabilities by enhancing parents’ knowledge and use of evidence-based autism and communication interventions. She is particularly interested in recognizing and building on the strengths, resources, and lived experiences of diverse families to promote children’s social, emotional, and communicative development and to foster meaningful parent–child interactions. Anindita also has an ABA Certification and has experience of working as an ABA Consultant both in school and home settings for minimally vocal autistic children coming from multicultural and multilingual families during her time of collecting field hours for the certification. She speaks English, Bangla, Hindi, and Urdu fluently and has recently started learning Spanish and French.
