Why do you think advocacy is important? 

Advocacy is important because it gives people a voice and allows them to be heard. Advocacy gives people the opportunity to make their opinions and beliefs known and to shape the policies, laws, and services that affect their lives. It helps to create a more equitable and just society. Advocacy helps to ensure that people’s rights are respected and that decision-makers are held accountable to their constituents.

Why do you think the UCEDD is important? 

University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDDs) are important because they provide an array of services that support individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. UCEDDs are also important because they provide research, training and technical assistance to professionals, universities and community organizations. UCEDDs work to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities by promoting independence, productivity, inclusion and self-determination. Additionally, UCEDDs strive to increase access to services, support and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities, including those from diverse communities.
