Family Advisors at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center

OVERVIEW

The implementation of family centered practices at Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford requires a strong cohort of family advisors. The University of Connecticut Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities is providing technical assistance and support to ensure the effectiveness of family advisors at the hospital. Through several contracts with CCMC, the Center has provided technical assistance, support, training and meeting facilitation as two of these advisory groups have developed. The hospital wide CCMC Family Advisory Board began in 2007 and is now a thriving and essential element in ensuring quality care for children and families at the hospital. The Family Advisory Council to Primary Care was established in 2008 and has provided input into the operations and quality of care at the Primary Care Center at CCMC.
